Dita Zakova is the Founder and Director of Ecolibri, a non-profit organization that has partnered with indigenous communities around Lake Atitlán, Guatemala, since 2004. Ecolibri's work aims to foster education, provide nutrition, improve health, empower women and inspire creativity. 


Dita collaborates with Yale CEA on the ELM Guatemala project, which seeks to develop a series of bioremediation systems for energy, food, air, and water quality, throughout the village of San Juan La Laguna in Guatemala. 


Prior to moving to the philanthropic sector, Dita was Country Director for the Czech Republic with Horton International, a global executive search firm specializing in the recruitment of senior talent for the management, consulting, finance, human resources, information technology, sales, marketing, manufacturing, and engineering disciplines, through offices in the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Dita has successfully recruited for numerous corporations and has placed key executives in highly visible Director/Vice President throughout the world within the industry.


Since 2004 she has been based in Guatemala, where she founded Ecolibri, leveraging international networks to provide indigenous people the access to resources that will have a lasting impact upon future generations. The organization is a highly sought-after partner by local and international parties in the development and promotion of social enterprises and community improvement programs.
